William Shively, a farmer, writes of his recent marriage to Lenhart's daughter Lucy. He notes that his wife has rented out her own farm but would be interested in trading it for a farm that adjoins their own if she had her deed. Shively describes the recent flooding in the area and gives the market prices of several staples. The letter is signed in the names of William and Lucy.
